my favorite salad dressing

the thing about being “vegan” is that people assume two things: 1. you are uber healthy 2. you eat all of your vegetables… and honestly, that’s not true for many of us. although i do love to eat fresh fruit and vegetables, i am much more of a cheeseburger kinda guy. and that’s okay!

but as i have gotten older and inching closer to my 30's, i know it’s time to treat my body better and eat the healthy things i’ve been putting to the side. that’s where my favorite salad dressing comes into play. and the star ingredient in this recipe is tahini. the nuttiness of tahini mixed in with the flavor profiles of the rest of this ingredient make this a perfect dressing for all kinds of salads.

prior to this, my go-to dressing was bottled-up Italian dressing and honestly it never really made me enjoy eating salads. until i realized the perfect salad comes together when you do more than just mix a couple of greens with bottled dressing. to make a perfect salad you need dark greens for nutrients, crunchy factors like pecans, sweets like sweet potatoes or raisins, a mixture of proteins, fresh herbs, and of course a perfect dressing. here’s my super simple recipe for tahini dressing.

tahini salad dressing

ingredients:

  • 1 cup tahini

  • 1/4 cup olive oil

  • 2-3 tbsp dijon mustard

  • 1/4 cup agave or sugar, to your liking

  • 1-2 garlic cloves

  • salt & pepper

  • water as needed

directions:

  1. in a blender combine all ingredients, except for water, and mix to create dressing.

  2. add water if/as needed to thin out dressing consistency

extras:

- you can add other herbs, spices, and plenty more to switch up the flavor in this dressing. it's a very versatile recipe and super easy to assemble.

- i recommend finding tahini that is super silky smooth! it helps when making this dressing, especially when you don't feel like pulling out your blender. swap out the garlic cloves for garlic powder and you're good to go.

enjoy! <3
